About the event
There is free parking at The Anchor Inn pub - but please note parking can get very busy on sunny days!
We will meet at 13.00 for a 13.30 launch (following a short paddle briefing) and head down Southampton Water against the tide for approx 2-3 miles, returning on the slack water around high tide. Depending on the group, time and conditions - there is the option to paddle further up-river on the return leg, where Southampton Water meets the River Test (this will be decided on the day). As we progress down Southampton Water it becomes more exposed and the water becomes choppier, there are limited places to get ashore - therefore this is a 2-star rated paddle. UPDATE 18.10.2019 the forecast is now for moderate winds and stronger gusts, changing this to a 3-star rated paddle. Should conditions deteriorate further, we may need to cancel or relocate.
There is a Visitor Centre at Eling Tide Mill (approx 2 mins away from the launch area) if members wish to arrive early and have a look around! (https://www.elingexperience.co.uk/) and of course there is The Anchor Inn for post-paddle refreshments if you wish!
